Coach Stangel spent ten years as an assistant men’s college basketball coach in Wisconsin before taking over the Andrean High School boys basketball program in 2016. Stangel led the second-best win turnaround in the state in his first year with the 59ers before leading the team to the school’s first basketball state championship in 2019. After 5 years at Andrean, Stangel moved on to coach the Hanover Central boys basketball team from 2021-2025, culminating in a Sectional Title in his last year. Stangel was a standout three sport athlete in the state of Wisconsin, leading the Monroe High School football team to two state titles as a quarterback, and finishing his high school career as the second leading scorer in basketball with over 1500 career points. A two-time National Champion basketball player in college at the University of Wisconsin Platteville, Coach Stangel enjoyed a successful playing career under Naismith Hall of Fame Coach Bo Ryan. Stangel himself has been named a member of both the University of Wisconsin Platteville and Andrean High School Hall of Fames. Stangel and his wife Jamie, a former standout basketball player at Valparaiso University, enjoy raising their three daughters Addison, Anna, and Amelia.
Thomas Golumbeck brings over 25 years of coaching experience to the court, with a legacy of success across multiple high school programs in Northwest Indiana. He began his career as an assistant varsity coach at Gavit High School from 1997 to 1999. In the 1999–2000 season, he joined the Griffith High School girls basketball program as an assistant coach, helping lead the team to a sectional championship, regional championship, and a trip to the IHSAA Final Four.
From 2001 to 2015, Golumbeck served as the head varsity girls basketball coach at Griffith, where his teams won six consecutive sectional titles, a regional championship, and made another Final Four appearance. He went on to hold assistant coaching roles at Hobart (2015–2016), Lake Central (2016–2019), and Andrean High School (2019–2025), contributing to a combined total of 6 sectional championships, 2 regional titles, and 7 conference championships during those tenures.
Coach Golumbeck was named Northwest Indiana Times Coach of the Year in 2010 and ICGSA District 1 Coach of the Year in 2012. He is a graduate of Highland High School, holds a degree from Indiana University Bloomington, and earned his graduate degree from Purdue University Northwest. He currently serves as a school counselor at Lake Central High School and is the proud father of three children: Andrew, Emily, and Olivia.

Coach Finnerty will be fulfilling the role of Assistant Varsity Coach. He shows up everyday with a positive attitude and is dedicated to making players better and understand what they are trying to accomplish on the court. He also prides himself on being someone they can count on off the court. Coach Finnerty has an active role that includes leading drills, breaking down plays and developing game strategy.
Coach Finnerty spent the last two seasons as the Varsity assistant coach at Hanover Central High School where they won a sectional title last year. The past 3 years he has also coached AAU basketball for the INDIANA GAME boys program.
Mike was born and raised here in Crown Point where he played all 4 years of high school basketball graduating in 1996. He also went on to play 2 years of college basketball at Culver- Stockton College in Missouri before graduating from Ball State University. He resides in Crown Point with his wife Shannon and two children Bailey and Dylan, where he runs a local family owned construction company.

Coach McHugh is a dedicated and passionate coach whose philosophy emphasizes communication, accountability, sportsmanship, and a culture of growth and excellence. He specializes in player development and team strategy, helping athletes improve their skills, understand their roles, elevate their basketball IQ, and contribute to team success. His coaching experience includes serving as an Assistant Coach and Skill Development Coordinator for Team NLP (14U–17U) from 2012–2016 and as an Assistant Varsity Coach for Hanover Central Boys Basketball from 2021–2025. A former All-State Honorable Mention forward at Cleveland St. Ignatius, he helped lead the program to its first state Final Four and a state runner-up finish before continuing his career at Yale University, where he started on the team that captured the school’s first Ivy League Championship since 1963. He also played one season in the IBL, winning the Midwest Division title and reaching the Eastern Conference Finals. Professionally, Coach McHugh has worked in the finance industry for over two decades and currently serves as an Executive Director for JP Morgan Wealth Management in Illinois. He lives in Valparaiso with his wife, Bethany, and their two children, Addelyn and Logan.

Coach Sarah Hoffman returns to coaching the Junior Varsity team after previously coaching at Crown Point High School for five years and two years at Taft Middle School. Coach Hoffman is a 2001 Crown Point graduate and former Lady Bulldog. She went on to play basketball at DePauw University for four years graduating in 2005 with her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Sarah currently enters her 20th year teaching at Lake Street Elementary School where she teaches 3rd grade. She lives in Crown Point with her husband, Nick, and three children, Charlotte, Amelia, and Henry.

Coach Gabbie Vania enters her second season in the Lady Bulldog basketball program. Coach Vania is a 2020 graduate of Crown Point High School where she played basketball for four seasons. She went on to play college basketball at Lakeland College. Coach Vania is finishing her bachelor’s degree in elementary education at Western Governor’s University and currently works at MacAthur Elementary School as a Title 1 paraprofessional.

Alyna Santiago graduated from Crown Point High School in 2021. She helped lead Crown Point to the 2020-21 IHSAA 4A State Championship. She won semi-state in 2021 and was a two-time regional champion. She also claimed three straight sectional and conference championships. She was named to the NWI Times All-Area Third Team and also received All- State Honorable Mention Honors. She was awarded Post Tribune All-Area Third Team and claimed a spot on the All-Duneland Athletic Conference. She was also invited to the Top 100 Workout concluding her 2018-2019 season and was invited to the Top 60 workout concluding her 2020-2021 season.
Alyna is currently pursuing a degree in Biology at Indiana University Northwest and is in the process of applying to dental school. From 2021-2025, she played collegiate basketball for IU Northwest. Over her four collegiate seasons, she was a steady, all-around contributor known for her playmaking, defense, and consistency.

Madison Dubiel is a former varsity basketball standout from Crown Point High School and a collegiate athlete from the College of DuPage. Known for her leadership and playmaking abilities, Madison averaged 3.3 assists and 3.3 points per game her senior year and holds the school record for most charges taken—a testament to her grit and defensive commitment.
She continued her playing career at the College of DuPage, where she further developed her skills and passion for the game. Off the court, Madison has contributed to the growth of young athletes by helping coach multiple kids’ skills camps, focusing on fundamentals, teamwork, and confidence building.
Now transitioning into coaching, Madison brings a player-first mentality, strong leadership, and a deep understanding of the game to every team she works with.

Coach Wring begins his 22nd year in the Crown Point Lady Bulldogs program and brings 40-plus years of coaching experience to the freshman team. When he’s not coaching basketball, Coach Wring works for D&L Wood Products as an estimator. Coach Wring graduated from Hobart High School in 1976 where he played baseball and basketball and continued his education at Indiana University Northwest. Coach Wring is married to Arlene (43 years), and they have three children, Andrew (CPHS, ’03), Emily (CPHS, ‘06), and Katie (CPHS, ’09). They also have one granddaughter (Eva), and seven grandsons (Thomas, Stephen, Everett, Caleb, Julian, Porter, and Micah).

Coach Mark Garrett enters his 18th year as strength and conditioning coach at Crown Point High School. Coach Garrett is a 1988 graduate of Cloverdale High School, where he played basketball, football, and baseball. Coach Garrett played college basketball at University of Maine – Presque Isle and also coached basketball there for two years. He graduated in 1994 with a degree in physical education and history. Coach Garrett previously coached football and basketball at Milan High School from 1998 to 2009. He is currently in his 29th year teaching and teaches the strength and conditioning classes at CPHS. Coach Garrett and his wife, Wendy, reside in Crown Point with their four children, AJ, Kerry, Michael, and Mary.
